Introduction to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and their impact on early childhood education

June 18, 2026

*This event has already taken place.

June 18, 2026,
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Virtual

The Centers for Disease Control Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study was one of the largest studies ever conducted on the long-term health impacts of child abuse and other forms of adversity. This groundbreaking study has contributed greatly to our understanding of how stressful life experiences during childhood contribute to morbidity and mortality over the lifespan and across generations.

During this free presentation you will learn about adverse childhood experiences, their prevalence, impact on brain and physical development, learning, and behavior, and some strategies to prevent and mitigate trauma. You will also learn about Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) and Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences (HOPE).

Learning Objectives:

  • Improved understanding of trauma and how to recognize the root causes of behavioral and learning challenges in children
  • Enhanced supportive practices that create trauma-informed environments that foster resilience and safety
  • Greater awareness of how positive experiences and trauma-informed environments can reduce behavior issues and strengthen adult-child relationships.

Presented by ACEs Master Trainers: Anne Gabbert from Child Care Answers and Nilou Pariborzi
