Foundations: Mathematics

Wednesday, August 9, 2017 @ 10:15 pm - Thursday, August 10, 2017 @ 12:30 am

  • « Taking the Temperature of your Child Care
  • Orientation I-Overview for participants who are interested in starting the business of child care »

Providing daily opportunities for problem solving, reasoning, communication, connections, and representations make it possible for young children to learn the content of math. These processes develop over time with the help of adults who connect math to everyday activities. The Indiana Early Learning Foundations were designed to support teachers, parents, caregivers, and other professional personnel as they develop appropriate experiences for young children. During this workshop, we will be talking about all things math, as it relates to the Foundations: numeracy, computation and algebraic thinking, data analysis, geometry, and measurement. Professionals will know how to use knowledge of math content, concepts and learning trajectories to design the curriculum and learning environments. Creating age-appropriate math learning experiences, while utilizing the Foundations, will be the focus of this workshop.
