LGBTQ+ Cultural Competency Training* (there is a FEE for this class)

Thursday, November 8, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

  • « Orientation I-Overview for participants who are interested in starting the business of child care
  • Why do They Do That? Understanding Youth Development »

Presented by our friends at Indiana Youth Group, participants in this workshop learn the latest best practices in working with LGBTQ+ youth and adults, same-sex couples, and same-sex parents. They discuss the barriers and stigma many LGBTQ+ people face as employees, customers, or clients in the business community, and how to alleviate those to become a welcoming and affirming business to all. They also learn how to balance their own moral, cultural, and religious beliefs with their professionalism through inter active scenarios and situations. With a focus on creating safe spaces, we discuss some basic concepts of intersecting identities, learn latest best practices in working with LGBTQ+ youth and adults, as well as direct implications to apply to their professional role. This workshop costs $10.
