Safety- Module 3 has topics related to the safety of children. Providing a safe environment and planning for emergencies are vital. Through education and proper transportation safeguards, providers can ensure childrens safety and prevent injuries. Providers will define the relationships between development stages and risk of injury. Identify potential safety hazards in an out-of-home care and learning environment. Define steps to maintain safe building, grounds, and equipment. This training meets the Health and Safety orientation training requirements for topic areas: 4. Building and physical premises safety, including identification of and protection from hazards, bodies of water, and vehicular traffic 5. Emergency preparedness and response planning for emergencies resulting from a natural disaster, or a man-caused event (such as violence at a child care facility).Providers will identify safety hazards that could be present in an early childhood learning environment. Providers will create emergency plans for keeping children safe. Procedures for storing mediation and hazardous materials and transportation rules will be reviewed and examined. This training meets the Health and Safety orientation training requirements for topic areas: 6. Handling and storage of hazardous materials and appropriate disposal of bio-contaminants 7. Appropriate precautions in transporting children (if applicable)10. First Aid and CPR Overview
