I am not sure that previous experience is as important as just an interest in thinking about issues that are presented around the table and being willing to offer your opinions and your insights.

FAQs
Joining our Board
Interested in board membership but wondering if it fits with your schedule? Read through these FAQs to get a better understanding.
How often do you meet?
Our meetings take place every other month from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., virtually or in-person.
Is there a cost involved to be on the board?
We do not have a set contribution required for board membership and instead encourage members to pledge an amount that aligns with their financial capability.
How long is the term?
The term is for two years, but renewable based on board member needs and preferences.
What is the time commitment?
The time commitment can range from two to four hours per month. There will be some prep time to read the documents before each board meeting every other month. During the off-meeting months, each board member participates in a committee that will meet and work on planning and projects. We also encourage volunteering at CCA events and interacting with CCA staff members.
Where do you meet?
We generally meet every other month virtually through Zoom. Some of the meetings occur in person at CCA’s offices near downtown Indianapolis.
Can I be a part of additional committees?
Currently, we have two committees: external and internal communications.
Can I be on a committee but not a board member?
Currently, we are recruiting for board members who are also willing to participate on a committee. However, if you’re considering joining a committee, please don’t hesitate to contact us so we can explore additional opportunities for your involvement.
What experience do I need?
Prior experience on a board is not mandatory. Currently, we are seeking expertise in areas such as marketing, fundraising, law, finance, education, technology, or human resources. However, we welcome the unique skills and perspectives you offer.
My work on the board and our work on the board is essential to communities because we need to know that programs exist and organizations exist to really inspire and help families do the best for their children.

Having an organization that kind of covers child care across the spectrum, supporting families, students, and providers was really important to me.
