General Last Day Q&A

Last Day Q&A: Spring is here in central Indiana!

Child Care Answers
March 31, 2025

As the days get longer and the temperatures get warmer, we asked our staff to share their most awaited spring moments. Read below to see some of the activities and events for which we wait all year long!

Mollie, Executive Director

I’m excited for March Madness! The indoor basketball games signal that spring is just around the corner—usually a few warm days followed by a cold snap, but it’s all part of the transition. Whether you’re a die-hard basketball fan, your team is in the tournament, or you love filling out a bracket, it’s always a great time. From the biggest buzzer beaters to crazy stats on teams, tickets, and dollars, March Madness never disappoints.

Sylvia, Program Engagement Specialist

I most look forward to spring break with my family this time of year. It is the time of year where we’ve had all of the winter holidays roll by and it is time for a break from it all! We like to venture to a warm climate because it lets us know that spring in Indiana will be coming around the corner. Spring at home is when we can be outdoors watching movies, taking long walks, and enjoying the sights and sounds all around!

Lane Heaney, HR Manager

We love to play outside! March brings the reopening of the Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience at the Children’s Museum. Over my years as a mom, child care teacher, nanny, and now grandma, I have been sharing experiences at the museum across the generations. It’s one of my favorite places. A close second is the Indianapolis Zoo. So, springtime, to my family, means time to get together and have fun, outdoor adventures!

Skylar, Administrative Assistant

My favorite part of spring is all the farmer’s markets that happen. I love being able to discover small businesses while enjoying the fresh air.

Jamie, Family Engagement Specialist

Each spring, Child Care Answers participates in Be My Neighbor Day. It is a day full of family fun! WFYI and the Indianapolis Central Library create family play experiences throughout the library. Last year, my daughter loved meeting Daniel Tiger, playing instruments with her dad, and getting a Daniel tattoo! I am looking forward to participating as a resource for families and playing with my daughter as mom!

Sarah, Community Engagement Specialist

I absolutely love the yearly spring events that happen in the greater Indianapolis area! Some of the best are xZOOberance Spring Festival at the Indianapolis Zoo, baseball season starting at Victory Field with our very own Indianapolis Indians, and the Indiana Peony Festival in Noblesville. My personal favorite is May Day People’s Picnic at Flanner Farms which happens the first Saturday of May each year,. Learn more about May Day history and it’s support for union workers.

Julie, Program Engagement Manager

Each spring I look forward to opportunities to get outside in the sunshine! Some of my favorite spring activities are flower shopping, hiking, outdoor workouts, exploring local markets, and on the tail end of spring, celebrating Pride month.

Kristin, Communications Manager

When my son was small, we went to Newfields for Mother’s Day, and it turned into a wonderful family tradition that I now share with both of my boys each year. It’s a beautiful time to explore the gardens, the canal path, and 100 Acres nature park. My favorite is always touring the Lilly House and imagining myself lounging in the garden room and being fancy.
