Your Journey as an Educator

Depending on where you are in your career as an early childhood or out-of-school professional, you may need different types of professional development resources. If you've been in the field for a while, you may choose resources to help you target specific topics for continuing education. If you're just starting out or are switching careers, a broader curriculum available through certifications or degree programs may fit better for your needs.

SPARK Learning Lab

As your  statewide technical assistance (TA) and professional development provider, SPARK Learning Lab is dedicated to advancing the quality of Indiana childcare. SPARK Learning Lab offers both in-person and web-based trainings in the following areas:

A number of opportunities are available for those interested in starting in early childhood or advancing their career, including:

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
  • Director credentials and certifications
  • Child mental health credentials and certifications
  • Infant/toddler credentials and certifications

We work closely with the Indiana Association for the Education of Young Children to connect you to resources and scholarship opportunities.

A number of local colleges and universities offer degrees in Early Childhood Education, ranging from associate’s to bachelor’s to master’s degrees. In Central Indiana, you might explore:

  • Ivy Tech Community College
  • Martin University
  • Marian University
  • University of Indianapolis

A number of Indiana and U.S. colleges also offer opportunities for remote learning.

Indiana Association for the Education of Young Children and their T.EA.C.H. program are a great resource for scholarships and financial assistance.
